Off the Stands is the receptacle for the comments of aspiring librarian, Nancy Cooey. It is meant to justify the many hours she has spent ignoring research papers, neglecting her garden, and calling in sick to work because the Fashion and Style section of the New York Times was really great that day or holding a Woody Allen movie marathon is more important that studying for an exam. Essentially this blog is what happens when an English major goes to graduate school for a degree in library science, meanwhile spending her workday listening to NPR podcasts and surreptitiously surfing the office Internet for peach-vodka recipes, bicycle blogs, and book reviews. Anyone who lives in the features section of the newspaper, stalks the magazine stand for new issues, and scours blogs for trends, will find something to read and hopefully something to say here.
